Kristin Cavallari is trying her hardest to give the cold shoulder to Brody, but it’s not easy. Even though their Hills time is coming to an end, there seems to be genuine chemistry between the two reality show stars. Since Brody will obviously take what he can get, it’s up to Kristin to do the brunt of the ignoring.

Stacie’s been Kristin’s sympathetic ear during all the drama.

“You shouldn’t be sitting here worrying about a boy,” Stacie said on The Hills last night. “That’s the thing though with ‘friends with benefits’. You try to be casual and then you don’t realize that your feelings and heart are into it. Someone’s going to end up getting hurt.”

It’s crazy when Muppet-voice Stacie the Bartender is the voice of reason, but that’s exactly what happened on last night’s show. Kristin’s excuse was that “it’s always the girl,” which is lame because all of this drama is cooked up and coddled by none other than Brody (and MTV). What guy wouldn’t want girls fighting over him? That’s what Brody loves about his life: he calls it “being single.”

Kristin’s destination last night may have been “Venice” because of the “hot guys,” but we have a word of caution–they definitely play games of love in Italy, too. Tread lightly, Kristin!

Pop punk AVRIL LAVIGNE has a real-life hero in beau BRODY JENNER – THE HILLS star saved her from drowning during a recent surfing lesson.

The Sk8er Boi hitmaker, who has been linked to Jenner since February, was enjoying a personal lesson from the reality TV star in Malibu, California when she was knocked off her surfboard.

But Lavigne was in safe hands – Jenner rushed over to the singer and helped her to the shore, where she recovered from the sea scare, reports America’s Star magazine.

A source says, “A big wave flipped her into the water upside down. Brody swam over and dragged Avril to shore, but she’d had the wind knocked out of her – she’d swallowed a bunch of water and was coughing. When Avril realised what happened, she was so thankful Brody was there to save her.”
